Jean-Eugene Clary was born in Paris the 14th of June 1856 and became famous for is delicate depictions of French landscapes. He died in the Andelys in 1929. He was the pupil of Cesar de Cock. He started to show is work at the Salon de Paris in 1878, then exposed at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and at the French Artists Salon. He obtained an honorable mention in 1883, in 1890, and a bronze medal in 1900 at the Exposition Universelle.
