The Tudor period took place between 1485 and 1603 in England and Wales and includes the Elizabethan period during the reign of Elizabeth I until 1603. This period coincides with the dynasty of the House of Tudor in England whose first monarch was Henry VII (1457–1509). England was economically healthier, more expansive, and more optimistic under the Tudors than at any time in a thousand years.
Wearing stylish and attractive looking clothes was very important to the wealthy during the Tudor period. Clothes were a form of status symbol and the rich demonstrated their wealth by wearing clothes made from expensive materials and fabrics.
